Why the Russian invasion of Ukraine must be decisively defeated

By: Freydoon Khoie

The Russian invasion of Ukraine represents a continuation of centuries-long Russian aggression against other nations, characterized by the annexation of territories and the disregard for established borders. It is imperative that we put an end to this pattern of offensive actions and occupations, and uphold the principles set forth by the United Nations to establish final and permanent borders.

In the modern world, the concept of one country invading another and forcibly incorporating it into its own territory is outdated and unacceptable. Since the establishment of the United Nations, all nations have been granted legal and recognized borders that should not be violated by a stronger military force at will. The illegal occupation of any country by invading forces should be reversed, allowing affected nations to regain their original statehood.

It is essential that we strive to live in peace with one another, respecting each other's legal and internationally recognized borders. By defeating the Russian invasion of Ukraine and upholding the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, obligating the Russian state to pay in full the tremendous cost of damages caused and reparations thereof, to Ukraine, the Russian state will learn, just as Germany and Japan learned their lesson, that they can no longer bully other nations, and we can work towards a world where nations coexist harmoniously and abide by the rules and norms established by the international community.

Together, let us ensure that the 1000 years of aggressions by the Russian states and other aggressor states comes to an end, and that we foster a global environment where peace, mutual respect, and adherence to legal boundaries prevail.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine represents a flagrant violation of international law and a clear display of aggression towards a sovereign

nation. It is not an isolated incident but rather a continuation of a long history of Russian expansionism and disregard for the territorial integrity of its neighbors. To ensure a just and peaceful world order, it is crucial that this aggression is decisively defeated and its consequences addressed.

For over a millennium, Russia, Germany, Japan and others has engaged in aggressive actions, annexing lands and forcibly incorporating them into its dominion. This expansionist mindset, rooted in historical ambitions of empire-building, has perpetuated a cycle of violence and instability in the world. It is imperative that we put an end to this pattern and establish a new era where nations respect the sanctity of each other's borders.

Since the establishment of the United Nations, the international community has recognized the importance of upholding the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and self-determination. All nations, regardless of their size or military strength, should be able to exist within their legally recognized borders without fear of aggression or invasion. The Russian invasion of Ukraine undermines these fundamental principles and poses a threat to the stability and security of the entire global community.

By defeating the Russian invasion and ensuring the restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, we send a strong message to the world that the era of territorial expansion through force has no place in the modern world. It is crucial to establish a precedent where illegal occupations are reversed, and the aggressor nation is sufficiently punished by payment of the war reparations and nations are allowed to regain their rightful statehood and determine their own future.

Moreover, ending the Russian aggression in Ukraine would contribute to the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the world. It would signal to other nations with expansionist ambitions that the international community will not tolerate violations of sovereign borders and will take collective necessary actions to protect the principles of international law.

By upholding the ideals and principles of the United Nations, we can work towards a world where nations coexist peacefully, respect each other's legal boundaries, and resolve disputes through diplomatic means. It is only

through collective efforts and a firm commitment to justice and international law that we can put an end to centuries of aggression, ensure the security of nations, and promote a more peaceful and prosperous world for future generations.
