The Alborz Institution traces its beginnings to 1980, when Mr. Khoie and a group of leading Iranian reformers informally founded the Institute in Washington DC., and devoted to research and analyzing Iranian public policy issues and assisted Mr. Khoie to complete his book (IRAN 2050: A New Vision for A New Iran). A non-profit corporation which is dedicated to the cause of democracy in Iran.

Mr. Root is a born philantropist with a heart for humanity. He has graciously accepted to be the Honorarary Treasurere for the institute even though he has his hands full of several other important obligations. A briliant entrepreneur, he previously spent 10 years at real estate private equity sector. At the time he was an Executive Director in a Private Wealth Management Group in Hong Kong and prior to that, he spent twelve years in operations, technology, and equities management in New York, London, Tokyo and Dubai. Alex is an accomplished Jet pilot and holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Fordham Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Fairfield University.
Susan Pfeiffer has many years’ experience as an International Corporate Training & Operations Director, responsible for writing, directing, and serving as the talent in corporate training videos. She was responsible for program development and training rollouts for an international business with 300 branches in 70 countries. She is a specialist in andragogy (adult learning) and is a sought-after business consultant. In addition to the United States, she has lived in Guatemala, is fluent in Spanish, and has led many humanitarian aid teams to Guatemala. Upon marrying Mark in 2016, she helped transform The Christian Institute of Islamic Studies into Reach, Teach, Love International, a full-time humanitarian aid organization focusing on refugees and displaced persons. Among West Asian countries, she and Mark have served together in Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Israel, and Palestine. In the United States, they have spearheaded local and national efforts at caring for the Afghan refugees that flooded the country after the Taliban takeover in 2021. They also speak and train on cross-cultural interaction and understanding.
Dr. Pfeiffer began his professional career as a trial lawyer before moving to West Asia to serve as Editor of The International American magazine published in Dubai, UAE. A lifelong student of Iran and fluent in the Persian language, he traveled extensively in Iran. He was interviewed by a national Iranian TV news station and has appeared on Iranian Christian satellite TV broadcasts. Upon return to the US, he obtained a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies and founded The Christian Institute of Islamic Studies to train students at Christian colleges and universities in all aspects of Islam and fruitful interaction with Muslims. He served as an Adjunct Professor of Islamic Studies for a number of years. Dr. Pfeiffer has published two books on Islam and is preparing two more books for publication. He is a specialist in Islamic Terrorism, has spoken at Homeland Security conferences, and is a guest on local San Antonio news stations to provide analysis when there is breaking news from the West Asia region. He and his wife Susan direct a non-profit organization caring for the needs of refugees and displaced persons throughout the world, including many countries in West Asia.
Freydoon Khoie is a man with a mission to transform the Iranian political system into a Constitutional Republic and end all forms of tyranny in his land of birth. He has dedicated most of his time to this cause since 1979. He helps business leaders, policymakers, and the general public make sense of the events in Iran and the West Asia region. He is the Chairman of the Khoie Group and founder of the Alborz Institution, a Think Tank, dedicated to providing intelligent analysis of the socio-political and economic developments in Iran and accelerate change in Iran. Mr. Khoie is an independent voice on critical issues regarding Iran, offering clearheaded insights through speeches, written articles, commentary and his books. A prolific writer, Mr. Khoie is the author of five books, including, “IRAN 2050: A NEW VISION FOR A NEW IRAN which examines the strategies for economic growth of Iran after regime change. “God Means Liberty” details the depth of the human rights violations by the extremists. “Market Warrior” and “Dare to be an Entrepreneur” outline how the entrepreneurial spirit of Iranians can turn around the Iranian economy in one generation. “Dubai: A Land of Opportunities” details the secret of Dubai’s rapid economic growth into a regional financial center by respecting individual liberties and social cohesion among all nationalities
